Yes - their eggs are no different than those of other breeds of chicken.

Good my sister wants to have at least 40 of them. Then we heard you couldn't eat the eggs and that made her very sad. They're just so cute.

just make sure she looks up how much coop space is needed and how to make it predator proof and checks the price of all that. storebought coops are not predator proof. on top of that silkies are not cold hardy, they are still pretty tough but not as much so as most breeds. 40 birds would need about 160 ft^2 'safe' space that is protected from the weather. that is a 10 x 16 coop and that is a minimum. better if it is raised and a run with 3 solid walls is put beneath it. she might want to cut her number by half or more... at least till she has chickens and sees some cute chicks she wants lol.

Oh yes she's raising one right now From chick. They're very cute. We're new at this so were just trying to learn what's best. So any and all advice is more than welcome. I will pass the message onto her. Thank you
