I take you have a bantam polish. I never realized they came in LF either until this past weekend at a poultry show. Some of them suckers are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess so...

I've never seen any much larger than ours though, so who knew? Are the bigger ones as laid back as the little ones?

edited to add; Yes, I guess I do have bantams. I ran a quick web search on Sultans, couldn't find a size on bantam Sultans, but listed the Standard weight at 6 pounds for roosters and 4 pounds for hens. I put on my coat, got out the chick scales and went and caught two of my hens, the larges hen weighs about 2 1/2 pounds and the smallest weighs about 2 pounds 6 ounces. Just a bit over half of what the standard Sultan weight should be. I sold my roo (Trying to find a new one to add new bloodlines into the flock) so don't know what he would have weighed, but he was just a tiny bit bigger than the hens.
So never mind, I'm an idiot.

Thank you all for your input.

Upon close scrutiny of the eggs, some are slightly larger than others..

I did hear back from the seller, who said "i sent 6 sultans 2 golden sebrights one africia geease egg you ask me if i had any other kind laying around and thats what i sent you"

That is sweet of the seller, but I actually inquired and said "I noticed you have some Buff Orpingtons as well from a previous auction. I would like to add some other varieties of eggs to my incubator if possible let me know - Thank you"

I guess the moral is be careful what you ask for!

I have considered getting a goose or two for weeding and bug patrol, but I have not yet gotten approval from the DF!

So, I am just going to lump it, pop the eggs into the incubator and see if a goose comes out!

tee-hee life is funny that way!

Sonew I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. I don't know something funny is up on this one I have to say. Was willing to give the seller the benefit of the doubt but something is wierd here.

OP said they were all bantam sized eggs-so even aN EGG fart from a goose has to be a huge sized chicken egg?? yes?? I dont have geese so I dont know how big they are butt I have ducks and those are huge???

We had geese at one time and when they started laying they still were a tad bigger than a ducks egg. Also I find it odd a goose would be laying right now.

I've never had LF Sultans but I did have bantam Sultans and they laid very small eggs, smaller than the Houdan bantams I have now...

Some pictures from 2006 when I had bantam Sultans, you can see them randomly wandering here:

I got mine from IDEAL. I ordered 12 LF Sultans and got 12 bantam Sultan eggs by mistake.

maybe it is a new kind of bantam goose (sorry couldn't resist)

Had some geese when I was a teenager and their 1 egg is equivelant to 3 chicken eggs (really really big). So if all of your eggs are bantam size or just a tad bigger but still on the small side then you do not have a goose egg in there.

Sounds like the seller was giving you a line to appease you.

So I wonder if its really hard to get LF Sultans. Seems like everybody who has posted so far has got Bantums. Interesting...
I wonder if the LF Sultans are better layers?

6 of the eggs have very faint pencil and say sultan the other 3 are cleaner, slightly rosier colored and have nothing written on them.

I did not have the eggs unwrapped when I posted her statement about the goose egg! They are obviously all small and bantam.

Perhaps the seller was either messing with me or was thinking of another order.

Either way, I am glad there is no chance of a goose egg, the humidity difference needed and the longer hatching time would have made me crazy (er)!

And yes, I was assuming it was a small goose egg, I do not know anything about geese, but I have heard of bantam ducks, so why not bantam geese!

I had not removed the clear bubble wrap from the eggs at the time because I did not know if they would ask me to return the eggs for a refund.

My grumpiness at receiving bantam eggs faded when I go the email saying that they had included a couple of extras because I (supposedly) requested them (when I inquired about adding some B.O. eggs.

I figure they are trying - they didn't intend to not pay all the postage, and they may not have known that there are BOTH LF and bantam sultans. The effort put forth by including the extra eggs and replying in polite (if poorly written) emails indicates good intent.

I am going to leave happy feedback.
