I was looking at some barred rock eggs on ebay last night and after all the talk of stolen pictures here, I decided to google images of barred rocks. Sure enough, the pic that person had on their auction was from Mother Earth News's Best Chicken Photos. The person listed as the winner with that picture is from Ohio and the person auctioning the eggs is from New Jersey, so I highly doubt it is actually their hen. I asked them if the bird pictured is from their flock but haven't gotten an answer back yet.

Just got an answer that it is a stock photo and not their bird. At least they were honest when asked. I agree with most here though that if they are going to use a photo of someone else's bird, they should say so in the auction description.

Or you could find a picture (hopefully your own or with permission of course

) of some really nasty, half-bald, wonky-legged evil-headed excuse of a chicken, and swap that image in. A lot more people might see it before anyone thought to mention it to the person whose ad it is

The issue with me is mostly that they lied to me when I asked specifically about the birds and the one in the picture. My response to the seller was totally dictated by their response to my questions. If they were honest and said they got the image from another website I would have simply told them to place appropriate credits.

Instead they lied. Once they did that it was like .... game ON! Lets play

I simply was able to beat them at their own game this time. It's not right what they did and it wasn't fair. It doesn't happen often, but once in a while you can catch them in the act and do something about it.

That would be best, because you never know how far the ebay seller is going to make it look like he is associated with your poultry club.

I have done the same thing.

I had in the past alot of myspace kids steal my pictures. I did really bad things to those image links. They stopped almost overnight.
