I've had eggs leak just a bit and glued themselves into the egg turner. They never made it.
I always move slow on Friday mornings, much to my chickens' chagrin.
Thursday night is pool night.
It was 16F here this morning and rather than bringing in the water founts last night, I had to thaw them all out this morning.
There's an old expression. 'Don't count your chickens before they hatch'. Truer words were never spoken.
Putting your hopes on a single egg incubating on a heat pad wrapped in a shirt is a recipe for disappointment.
It is disturbing when one opens a live embryo. I've been there. That eye looking at you is haunting.
Speaking of chickens, how are your black birds?
I wish you did too.
Could you post a link to the thread?
If it isn't 10 in the shop, you could do that now. I've brooded chicks in an unheated, uninsulated building when it was 10 outside and 20 in the building.
The difference in policing from country to country is amazing.
I remember being with a bunch of friends walking down the street on New Year's Eve in Copenhagen. There were mobs of people celebrating and setting off fireworks. There were a couple policemen walking down the street across from us. Some guys in front of us were shooting rockets at the police. Being an American, I didn't expect the response. The police laughed and waved at the guys shooting at them.
That wouldn't fly here.
