EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

what are some alternative methods of disinfecting your incubator for the first time? I read the "Notes" section however I do not utilize bleach or other chemicals in my home. I am an advocate for more natural remedies, I utilize Melaleuca products in my home for cleaning. Could ACV w/mother be used, or garlic and lemon peel?

sorry i was trying to find it but you post in a lot of places

and Banti found it first LOL

not to mention the fact that you have many roos, in your mixed flock

Yep. I am planning to put a few into breeding pens come spring tho, as I want more of Jace's babies....

I think vinegar should work fine. I use it to clean bathrooms and such. I can't imagine it not being good enough, especially if you add some essential oils.

I've been dealing with mites, and the coop cleanout fiasco. Rather than loading the litter into the manure spreader to move far away, it was spread around near the coop! So much for getting the little beasts out of reach! I have Gordon's Permethrin 10 concentrate, from TSC. It comes in various sizes, mine is 8 oz, and will make huge amounts of spray for the birds and coop. It's a 1:200 dilution for poultry! I'll follow up with a report on mites after checking birds tonight. My Chantie cock seems to have the most of any of the birds. UGH! Mary

Yes, it sounds like it's more for you to manage you flock appropriately, than spoiling the flock.
I strike the jackpot!
DW( she is an Electronic practical engeenr) work received a new company to represent, and they have this

Highly accurate and highly calibrated temp and hygro meter (0.01C and 0.01%!), which is part of an evaluation bord of a bigger system.

Guess what I am going to use it for?
