EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

It looks like a fun thing to try, and I might get one, but beware, I don't think that this board is meant to be used in harsh environments, so it might not last very long.

I was wondering if it would hold up to the dust and humidity. May get one to calibrate others but probably wouldn't use it in incubator.

I can see it now, lol, all that moisture beading up under all of those IC's and getting into the LCD display. One to calibrate others is what I think I will do, too.

I do like the Bluetooth capability though. It's susceptible to static which wouldn't bode well with the styrofoam bators I think.

700

Guess what's here!! :weee

8 viable eggs, all saddled.

Gonna let set for 6-10 hours, coz they're old...

Bummer on the old :fl

Quote: I got all excited until DH pointed put that it's a development/evaluation board for hardware and software engineers to evaluate and/or develop the sensor, it's not meant to be sold as a "retail" product. It's an unprotected circuit board, with exposed low voltage power traces, so one will need to be careful that they don't short it out by doing something like placing it on a metal desk.

DH also told me that my RCOM has the older version of the sensor, which I thought was interesting.

Or the HW cloth bottom of a 'bator, maybe? Like I said, we'll find out. If it works, great. If not, it won't be the first $36 I've blown; likely won't be the last. I'll be the thread Guinea pig

Cute pup, although he ain't doing that shirt any favors. Our Jack carried a perfect arrowhead between the eyes. When he first came here as a 2 yer old he killed a couple of my layers. I managed to impress on him the error of his ways, and he never so much as chased one after that. He'd even follow me into the chicken yard once in a while. I had goats then, and a couple of them had gotten out, and weren't about to get caught. I told Earl (he came with that God-awful name for a dog) to go get them. He got in behind them and headed them in the right direction like he'd been herding goats all his life. Never could get him to do it again

Mine chases the chickens, but he doesn't hurt them.... one of my smaller EE hen will turn around and chase him back... so at this point, it's definitely a game between them.

You choose this paper color on purpose? Don't you? It HADE to corolate to the eggs color!

Nopers, It's the back of a painting canvas. I put it on top of the bator (I have the eggs on top of it, as it's the only spot my dog can't get to) so the heat coming off the viewing window doesn't heat up the eggs too fast.
