Going skiing in February. It has been a long time. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to afford it again but we found air fare for $100 ea. to CO.

GOOD MORNING, CREW! IT IS A COLD ONE OUT THERE! BUNDLE UP THE DOG, AND BRING IN THE CHICKENS!

Thanks - I needed that! I'm home sick again today - got the dizzies (inner ear condition), and can't drive or read. I can look at the computer but only in spurts. And the ear ringing is SOOOOOOOOO loud today.

Latest I've been golfing around here was probably about new years a couple years ago. Then again I've gone golfing in a snowstorm before.
I've golfed in some pretty bad weather, too.
My brother came to visit me once, and wanted golf the whole week. He insisted, regardless of the weather. Never golfed in that much rain in all my life. But it was kind of fun in a very goofy, silly way after a while.

Jerusalem artichokes are one of the best sources of sugar to make alcohol fuel. The only thing better is sugar cane. https://ucanr.edu/repositoryfiles/ca3509p4-61784.pdf Was she looking for fresh air? That really looks bad. Does he hate you now, and me? I don't get it. Your temps and humidity is almost the same as mine. I took these pics of roosters in buildings the last couple days with huge windows on both east and west walls at roost height. The wind blows right through and I don't worry about the cold. I hope this helps. I put Gro2Max in chicks first water and occasionally through their lives. I went to get new glasses. My distance (20') ones were lost and the other pair lost a lens. Now I have glass instead of glasses. Since you will already know where you are and have a map, I recommend a clear baseplate compass. They're pretty cheap. http://www.thecompassstore.com/baseplate-compasses.html The kind I had at my brother's house was mostly for finding the NSEW direction to a point of reference like a peak
He doesn't seem to hat us, but boy would I understand. He is reserved out and about, but easy off the roost. The more I have tried to figure it out the only thing I can think of is that I shut the coop early one night when it was going to be cold. I wonder if the temperature change with it shut early instead of after dark like normal caused too much humidity? I will never know. I am going to move him for Saturday and Sunday because of the huge temperature swings we are expecting. He is in enough pain. I will not let it be made worse.

And of course you used REAL maple syrup right? Not the "maple" syrup they sell in stores.

And people wonder why there pretty plants and flowers always get mowed down. It's cause of deer like those.

She tossed a couple pieces of scrap pine lumber in for kindling before I stopped her, but that was over a month ago; nothing since. I have enough hardwood kindling out there to heat the house half a season just by itself. My buddy works in a grocery store & keeps us supplied with those compressed paper egg separators that they use. Make great fire starters. We've been using them for several years, and keep her sister supplied with them...no problems.

Okay, I'm headed out the door to the blind. I'll be able to read posts, but won't be able to post myself. If you don't hear from me the rest of the day, grab an ice axe & come on down.
I am glad you guys are ok. I hope you get a deer today.
I use Rutland regularly.

By pale face, are you referring to her comb and wattles?
Dusting with DE may help but won't cure the lice/mites. Follow the directions you've been given at least 20 times for treatment.

Sorry to say it but some people shouldn't have chickens.

Where did the 95 come from?
23 isn't that cold for most chickens. It hit -19 F a couple years ago. Hens had no problems.

Well that's your problem, not the cold. I thought you took care of that over a week ago.

You should do what was suggested last week. Until you do what was suggested, why ask for advice again?

We had about 200 of each species. I miss working there.

:lau

I don't think any animals appreciate those huge temperature swings.

Thanks! and :gig

Hi Heather, Sorry work is so busy and your daughter was sick. Exciting news about the puppy though.

Very interesting!

Wow! That's awesome.
