EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I was thinking Toads would look good in NA

Actually, you could be right, one of the things I have lost from the CX's is the light feathering. The toads have a full normal chickens feathers. They still pluck easy when scalded properly but have way more feathers than the CX did.

Woke up a little bit ago when my husband came in from work to find this:

There's three!! And the others are all externally pipped! Weeeeeee!
Congratulations! I've decided that that's one of my favorite things - to go to bed during lockdown and wake up to a hatcher full of chicks. It's like Christmas!!!!!

I'm so very sorry. We're here for you in you time of difficulty.

Quote: Thanks. I had the heat panels, and didn't like them. The chicks seem to do better, disposition-wise, with the MHP. But I know a lot of people have had success with them. The concept is the important part - the chicks are better abel to regulate how much heat they need (they need a lot less than we think they do as they get older).

Ralphie, did you ignore the article I posted on birds with the Naked Neck gene having better breast weights, keel lengths, overall muscle development and rapidity of growth, and a better immune system?

Quote: Traps have been set for days and days and days. They are too smart. Just found a third one in the yard. (This is an old problem, from before I bought the house - all the neighbors' outdoor cats love to hang out here).

Less feathers to process, more protein for meat instead of feathers, better in heat. Win win to me. Feathers are over rated.
Nicely put!
