Phil!!! Good to see you - good morning!![]()
I know, I know - but it's the rules of handling them in the middle of a city. They do relocate them very far away, but, of course, there will always be more or they could come back, which is why I don't bother with traps normally and don't own any. The reason these traps are being set and these particular raccoons are being removed is that he needed to ensure he caught any of the ones that were living in the house/attic before his repairs, so they wouldn't be trapped in there when he sealed up the holes/access points. (Also, a number of years ago when they were handling the same issue for me before, one of the raccoons they caught had either distemper or possibly rabies, by behavior. I was DELIGHTED to have them handle that whole situation.)
I know, right?!In all seriousness, I was out walking around this morning trying to finalize placement for the multiple growout pens, and needing to think of how the sun will hit my proposed spots in the afternoon (hottest part of the day). I'd rather roast just the chickens I WANt to roast, and preferably IN the oven.

Today is a really beautiful clear day, so I will be heading outside every hour (when I'm not already out there) to watch where the sun falls.
Do you have eggs in there yet or not? Either way, recall from my earlier post that humidity is just a tool to get the proper amount of weight loss in the eggs. If you weighed eggs before putting them in (or if you haven't put them in yet), you can track by weight, and if not, you can track air cell size. You'll just need to compensate based on what the eggs look like they need. For my last hatch (in a Brinsea) I ran about 29-32% the whole way through, they all hatched.
Not sure anyone asked this yet, but what sort of eggs are you incubating? (Dark or blue? White? Large or small or bantam or serama?) That can also affect the humidity, as can porosity in the eggs.
I don't think so - we were trapping for a good couple weeks before he was willing to start repairs - the point not being to rid my property of raccoons, but more to clear out those who were living in the house (catching them when coming out or in) so they wouldn't be trapped.
Yeah, as soon as I finish this coffee and yogurt, I need to head back outside.
Actually, it's 9am, so I need to pop out to check the sunlight in the yard real quick. BRB.

Quote: How do you have eggs this early? My hens lay all day long, and I don't collect until about 5pm.
(Or do you collect multiple times a day to catch them before they freeze? If so, whadda pain - and I'll remind you of this the next time you defend your ice-encrusted kingdom up there, Elsa.![]()

Pretty, enjoy your day!Well, Spring has DEFINITELY sprung here in the past day or two. It was chilly this morning for south Texas (46F), and yet all the trees are starting to explode with teeny bits of green. JUST like that "Spring Green" crayon in the coloring box... The mesquite leafing out is the definitive sign, and here we go!
I should get back to work on chores and clearing/preparing the growout pens. Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!
