EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

They WERE sub-par most of the season but with a new coach, the young guys are getting a chance and they're the hottest team right now.

And we have the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. What happened to your baseball team. Oh, they're now the Nationals after a year of travelling with no home.
Maintenant calme. I have to get going to my class.

I don't follow baseball, so no loss there.... Canucks and hockey go together, not Canucks and baseball. :old

Those little legs belong to my Wellie/Rock sex-link. She hatched on my anniversary, so I named her "Charlie" after the town we were married in, St. Charles, MO. She's already the calmest, sweetest. I brought home 4 Wyandottes to keep my single company (before Charlie hatched), and these Wyandottes are nuts!

For the marinade:

Limon juice from my garden
A FRESH WONDERFUL SPRING GARLIC
E.V OLIVE OIL
AND calamata olives
Green chili
Salt, pepper.
All processed with a stick processor and pored on the rooster.

ROFL!!!! i cant get rid of the crap!
Thanks. I started with my immediate supervisor. He came back and said they had decided to use anniversary dates instead of across because it was not a CODA raise. Which ignored my point about the years there has not been a raise available because I was at the top of the chart. Nor the fact that the other three at the top of the chart have already had their anniversary dates this year so based on the coincidence that they are hired early in the year I will have to wait 7 to 10 months longer to get my opportunity at the raise. Thus they get it at 7-9 years, and I will be at 11. He said since it is not coda it had to be earned. At which point unfortunately for me I got upset yank the door open and left complaining about how so they can turn it into weeks and I have to do it in 10 months your regardless of the previous years. The next day I sent a letter to my Bigg Boss because the employee manual says if you're not happy with the resolution that your first boss says that you can you know send a letter and since there is only the big boss over my boss's boss so he went to that's what I did. I expressed my opinion and argument in the letter unfortunately the last line I included was that I had always and said that though my employer did not pay the best at least they were loyal but I didn't feel that was true anymore. That upset him over a raise we are supposed to talk when he gets back in town early next week. It amazes me that rather than address the issues that I put forward he was more concerned about my questioning the company's loyalty of course. We'll see.

I will do read back soon. But an ugly appointment with the workmans comp Dr. yesterday. Long story short the last few words were "RSD and losing all function if you don't start "using" your hand" even after I showed him pics of it red, white and blue at therapy and after daily use of everyday activities. I started to cry and he turned his back on me and told me "Make an exit to your left" and walked out of the room

nooooooooooo

OK, so I fell asleep for a bit before starting chicken chores. And I had horrific dreams about really weird stuff including a bunch of dead baby ducks. I woke up, shook it off, and headed outside to find Trinity wandering around outside of the paddock - she's my black NN hen and has not ever been outside the paddock except under duress (last time, a pair of foxes was after the flock). I caught her and cuddled for a bit - I think Snape, their rooster, is being none to polite with them today, and that may be why. So I put her up and went into the other ouse to deal with the chicks, and I walked in to see the door to the Aloha NN brooder OPEN! There were about 15 chicks (4 weeks old, but small) huddled on the floor under the brooder table. And there was poop splattered ALL OVER the (thankfully tile) floor. I must not have latched the door properly this morning.

So I, in shorts, proceed to slip and slide and kneel in the poop on hands and knees to catch all the chicks, in some cases having to chase them around an empty house and back into the kitchen (picture me with chick poop ground into my knees and elbows at this point, and on my thighs and butt from slipping and falling on poop). The whole time I was thinking that this would be really funny if it didn't really suck...

Taking a break (after wiping off the worst of the poop, washing up a little, and collecting eggs). Lumber work for a while this evening, then BATH AND SHOWER TIME. BOTH. Ewwwwwww.....

Crazy chickens.

so sorry kristen but i do hope you were able to catch everyone?

I am a first time hatcher, it has been 18 hrs since it forst started piping and i just want to ask if it looks normal or may need assistance, any help would be greatly appreciated
update?

This is my new(est) cockerel. I picked him and a pair of pullets directly out of Matt Ulrich's pens. As the description says on YouTube... what he lacks in vocal skills, he makes up for in class.

That introduction leads us to the eggs from these matings cooking in the refrigerbator:
Hi Joey!!! he is very handsome!! good luck with the eggies and you KNOW we all noticed and missed you!

it has piped out of the pointy end. I can see movement and hear the chick peeping but its having some issues. I dont want to do anything yet because its seeping a small amount of fluid and i dont want to be that guy that opens up the egg to early. Also my daughters are glued to the incubator watching lol, trying to avoid childhood trauma
i understand also remember that every time you open the bator you could jeopardize the other eggs in it
so make that choice very carefully
Hey all, just popping in for some advice. I can't keep up with this thread on a daily basis. @Sally Sunshine

Incubating turkey eggs. Still air styrofoam incubator with automatic egg turner. Day 3 today. Last night, the temp was not stabilized, and a couple hours after I had turned up the temps, the temp was 105!! It was only that warm for an hour or so. Last night, when I came home at 1:00am (late movie) the temp was about 101. When I woke up at 7 am, the temp was 106!

Did I kill them all? Has anybody made this boo boo before and had any hatch? I only have 5 eggs on there.
hi, they may be ok so long as it wasnt up that high very long

Add some Heat sinks to your bator
and make sure it is calibrated
