Plus 8 Svart Hona. HRIR next. Lockdown on my large hatch. The four Hona are going into lockdown, but the aircells are wonky with big dips. Most of them are Easter Eggers with a few Heritage Rhode Islands Reds, and three Hona. metel AKA Melody or Mel I had about 20 seramas hatch. A large macaw like a scarlet has a bite strength around 700 lbs. per inch. Hyacinths' bites are much stronger. Perhaps 1000 or more. We had a Scarlet the stuck its beak through the cage of a Hyacinth and the Hyacinth bit the Scarlet's beak off. The Scarlet's mate had to feed it the rest of its life because it couldn't eat on its own.
My friends that do rescue have some horrific scars.

Speaking of Hyacinths, you reminded me that the female at the Montgomery Zoo has been on suicide watch for the past 2 years. Her mate died (I have no idea what killed him) and they keep trying to find a new one. I'm thinking it's not going to work, but I don't know much about Macaws. She along with her mate, the Scarlets, Blue and Golds, and Militarys have been there since the zoo opened, so I know they're all older than 27 years.
