EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

@BantyChooks
 I need help - my little chick who's last in the incubator is running all over th eplace, dragging her egg shell with her. She' fluffing up, but the umbilical is still firmly attached to the egg. I took some pictures, but i'm not sure how to safely detach it?  She's up and moving and apparently ready to be away from her egg now.

I've had two of those. I used boiled stainless steel scissors, but any clean ones will do. Cut it ASAP.

OH!! Nearly forgot- is it dried at all?? If it still looks live and thick I would NOT cut it.

And somthing more that puzzles me is that it is only in the received ovation , the given are normal!

Gave and received look the same on my computer.

I know, but it changed and I don't know way!

If there are no blood vessels in the cord you can spin that off. Be sure to use cutter that are clean.

I only know how to do umbilical vessels on mammals, like humans and cats. :hmm

I don't know how to tell if the thing is dried enough to cut safely.

I didn't want to tug on it and hurt the little guy while trying to look any closer. LOL

I can sanitize the cutters, that's not a problem.

Both times were at the county fair & I was almost close enough to touch him.
$$'s the reason I've never been to any other concerts Passed up my only chance to see Elvis because of it. Never been to an NFL game for the same reason

I love the old country, what I mostly listen to and sometimes bluegrass. Grew up with it, metalhead when I was younger but anymore prefer the classics.
Haven't seen any of them live, that are still alive Lol!
Did see Marty Raybon who used to be with Shenandoah (yeah I know not a classic) at our county fair several yrs ago. He opened for Brad Paisley, who is a awesome guitarist live, great engaging entertainer, but I much more enjoyed Marty Raybon's music. Really glad we got to see him.
