EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

in a perfect world..

World is perfect, people aren't, free choice and all.

You and DH would get a long. I browse for deals. He gets what he came for and gets out of dodge.

Yep, men all over go to store with a list, get things on list and leave. Men tend to go buying, women tend to go shopping.

can anyone tell me if you stop turning the eggs on day 14

No, turn eggs until day 18.

on one of the posts I read if you stop on day 14 it will prevent malpositioned chicks?

Someone said this, or were studies? Improper turning can cause malpositioned.

Well, it can be. Sometimes it won't be. Depends on the women. Depends on the situation.

In and out efficiency. Yep. Whereas women likely shop around for the sales and bargains. Am I right? Or am I right? :p See...not so random.:D

Random.

It is 5:30 AM and it is 25.5C°!

7:35 A.M , 39*F Brrrrrr. What's powering that thing?

:lau

You have not met my husband. :p

:lau

I have done that! I try to keep my list on my phone and text myself with it...lol.

I've done that too! Something gets forgotten. What?
At least I give it 200%

Here either...it's an artform to work it into a trip involving other things..lol.

:clap

Do you have an organizational assistant?? :p

But you don't get to embrace the adventure.:wee

Chocolate should ALWAYS be on the list. Yes, yes.

No, I have not met your husband.

Yes, you work your grocery trip in with other stops, Tractor Supply, Bank, Grocery, ATF (alcohol, tobacco, and firearms(ammo)).

No organizational assistant. I have a Debbi she takes care of the mail, bills, finance, making phone calls etc. Part of me leaving gainful employment was she would handle all that. I wasn't going to leave work to sit at desk and do that crap. If she goes shopping too, she will put things in cart not on list.

I do that too. But being fast can never happen because that's when you run into someone and they start talking to you. That's a guarantee.

Yes, that is why you want a list, get the list and get out. There are other people there. They might me nice and want to talk. Look focused, stay focused, avoid other people.

Put a mark on the eggs and see if they move them, or roll them.

:thumbsup

I do mark the eggs. If I pick them up (which you know I do) they will adjust the eggs when I put her down. They'll adjust then and after they've gotten off to eat/drink. If he hens are not disturbed...they don't move. That's why I stopped turning just to see. Mine do not turn them like it's been said.

Weird. My chickens turn their eggs, unless they get one of their massive clutches then only some get turned. but not many hatches. Occasionally a hen will get a clutch of 20-30 or more eggs. :lau

But I don't have a day job, or a night job, either, come to think about it.
Might have to talk to your wife about that night job thing. ;)

I wonder whay it isn't in your LEAST FROM ADVANC?
Wha??

Hey...I've actually got very decent hatch rates when I don't turn. It wasn't double blind tests but to me it didn't make anywhere as much of a difference as I assumed/had read. Old eggs (4+ weeks) have a fair rate of die off.
I thought you said you got greatly reduced hatch rates. :hu

I do that too. But being fast can never happen because that's when you run into someone and they start talking to you. That's a guarantee.
I hate it when that happens.

I know they're EEs but mine follow a few simple rules. A few chicks trick me but most are sexable by color and pattern. I know they're not "supposed" to...but these do.
I can't tell with others...just these. Almost the same rules as SDW OEGBs at hatch.
Plus 8 out of 10 hatches I get more females than males from the EEs; 60/40 or 70/30 split. OEGBs are 50/50
My neighbours have sexlinked OEGBs. Males are white with black mottling, females are a red brown or wheaten colour.

Look focused, stay focused, avoid other people.
