EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I should have known they would end up as food considering we named them Lamb Chops and Mint Sauce. I thought it was a joke. Joke was on me!
Interesting about your friend!

Chicken and dumplings sounds amazing! And sounds like a fantastic way to be brought up. I wish we could afford land to be self sufficient, maybe one day!

I grew up with raising animals for food, hunting and fishing. Mom would tell us to go pick an old hen for chicken and dumplings. It was a Family project and guaranteed the chicken and dumplings were always very Tasty!
It was my husband's favorite part of his first time butchering chickens. All the chicken and dumplings he could eat!
Even a 2 year old rooster's neck is not as tough as the pipe.
Really?! :celebrate:wee :hugs :hugs:hugs You have made me very happy!!!
These ones, right?

Thanks! My two oldest ones, we were doing a maternity shoot for a mare that is due end of this month/early November. She's carrying my dream horse in her tummy, when we got her pregnant last year the girls and I came up with the idea to do a maternity shoot for her. So we braided her mane and tail and wove flowers in there, then they dressed up in dresses. And we wrapped a bow around her tummy. LOL. Here's a photo of all three, my youngest is having a moment as she was told off for not listening when we were walking across the paddock. Don't work with animals and children, and what do I do? Work with both! :wee

In other news my brand new heat lamp isn't working! It was working and then I moved it closer to the brooder box, went back to check on the chicks and the bloody heat lamp isn't working! I've fiddled with it but to no avail. Have put a heat pack wrapped in a tea towel in with them, and have a new heat lamp coming later this morning from a friend but I can't believe it! I'm hoping it's just the globe but it was a brand new globe, and a brand new ceramic hood thingy. It's not freezing here but should I pop my heater on, or will the heat pack be enough?

It depends on how long it takes to get the bulb. You can use a heating pad

Yes, right by the head.

First, your littlest reminds me of Duckling when I say most anything lately. :lau
If you have the chicks in the house, any (gooseneck)lamp will do. As long as you have an older bulb (that actually gives off heat) you are good.
