EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I take it back. It's raining, so I can't get outside to do much. So what am I doing? Helping my dad take apart the stove so we can clean the control board and realign the Bake button. Why are gas stoves so complicated these days? Why did no one install a vent above where the stove goes so I don't have to clean 2 years worth of grease off the control board? The world may never know.

Guys I am not trying to divert the thread so if please PM if you know anyone who might be interested in a gaited Peruvian Paso gelding in need of a new owner who has time. He has a lot of potential, but he is just green broke. I simply don't have time to take on a new horse. Especially with a healing rotator cuff.

The guys responded to the ad which stated $1.75 per/# hoof-hang weight.
DH tells them the swine weighs 100# estimated so he is charging for 100#. The guy didn't agree about the weight and told DH it was less than 75# and he would pay for that. After trying to explain the fact that muscle weighs more than fat and DH was tired of the haggling, He says I will rope em and tie em and weigh em on the scale, BUT you have to buy him if I have to do all that work..
Caught em, tied em & weighed it at 125#!
Moral of the story is.. Don't haggle with a pig farmer if you are buying your first pig.
They are getting one of my private stock feeders. They are about to eat the Nectar of the Gods.
It should take the edge off of having to pay extra..

I like how my HRIR birds are free ranging and in attitude, but they are really slow to mature. They are not as friendly or productive as my ISA, but they are smarter, and my EE are productive and do well, but they are not friendly either though they are better than the ccl crosses. I have not found any type yet that is sized like my reds, but friendlier and more productive. Oh well,. I will just buy some other chicks this spring and see.
NNs, pretty ones

Thanks, I think so too, but I don't have the money to pay for more training, and he needs more work than I have time for right now. He needs three or four days a week, and I don't have it.
20 years ago I might have been interested, even though he's not "my" breed, but that ship's left the dock. Good looking horse, though; good luck re-homing him.

I can't get motivated today..

Ten years ago I would have trained him myself. Now, my body is aging and I work way too much. Besides, I have two finished mares so why bother. When I do have time to ride I just want to enjoy myself.

A rule I learned...Old Bodies bounce less than young ones....
Yep, and take much longer to heal. The nice thing about Peruvian Paso horses is the worst they do is crow hop, or a low rear. They just don't fight like stock breeds, but some lines are fearful and take extra time. You have to repeat things a lot. They require patience and NO force. Once they join you they will give you everything they have. Lots of endurance and go too.
