EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

.:fl he'll return in the morning. Sometimes they're really hard to see in the trees at night.
Raccoons are in a semi-hibernation routine now. Just don't do the same thing in April or May. May has always been my worst month. The Kestrels and Barred Owls have been hanging around here more than normal lately.
When I have to leave for pool before it gets dark, my wife locks up for me - believe it or not. Not always perfectly but she hasn't been the cause of losing birds yet.

It's after 8 AM & no sign of him; I doubt there will be. Just after it got light enough to see w/o a light, I was out scouring the trees; nothing.

Aww, poor Tucker :( Unfortunately, it happens. Right now, I don't have much available. I lost one of my hens, a couple weeks ago, I'm guessing egg bound, and the other hasn't been giving me eggs in weeks BUT at least 5 of the 6 babies that hatched on New Years Day look to be boys so I should have one available in a few weeks, minimum. Their father will be available later on, once the babies come of breeding age but that's quite a while to wait.
I'll take one of the youngsters. I was looking to get something not directly related to Tucker anyway; just not quite this soon. Keep me posted if you will.

Waterfalls in the kiddie pool don't count. :p

Goodness, no. I am a backyard chicken owner; I am on backyardchickens.com. I don't harbour any grudge towards us, but I do get tired of the self proclaimed urban experts that have owned exactly eight chickens and think DE is a miracle on wheels.
