EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Not looking good atm. Only 4 out of 12 hatched; already culled one, & just taped the foot of another with toes curled under so bad it can't walk. No activity from the other 8 yet, & don't really expect any. Yesterday was 21, so we'll see.

Sorry to hear your hatch is not going well. I am in the same situation; only 4 hatched and 2 of those were killed by one of the broodies. I am grateful that I have 2 at least. I have the 2 healthy ones in the brooder but one of them would not go to sleep last night & kept crying cause it wanted to be able to see us. Finally I put a stuffed animal in there with them and it settled down. I think these chicks are going to be really spoiled, lol.

I still have 5 eggs in the incubator but not expecting any more to hatch; we'll see what happens.

Must be contagious

Well in the goat world, my treatment seems to be working well with the boer yearling.

I got my quad and twins disbudded with shots and Tattoos last night. I'm glad the vet does the actual iron cuz I hate listening to them scream.
:fl my one day milk test starts tonight wish me luck especially with my Copper Hill doe that they let get mastitis last year. She's giving me about a gallon a day or a little over out of half an udder she's going to be so close. Hopefully her butterfat is good enough to push her over the edge. Since she's out of a 9 star milker it would be a total shame to have that all lost. It's such an inexpensive thing really in reality that it's a shame people don't do some of that stuff, but I had to get her paperwork all fixed because somebody didn't want to pay that $4 to transfer her mom.
At least the weather should cooperate.
It's supposed to be in the high 60s and sunny which be an improvement.

Good luck!

I have some nice chicken and very good eggs, this batch is more noisy and they can some times drive me crazy!
The laboratory exam is on the 9th of May, the theoretically exam on the 25 of June and the Asta La vista for 70 days of vacation !
I need your job.
Of course you're used to the double conversions that's probably why you get a job like yours. I'm sitting here banging my head trying to figure out how many points my doe is going to get for butterfat if she averaged four percent butterfat, milks a gallon, and gets .05 points per .023 kg. They had to put it into different forms of measurement just to make us crazy.
