EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Actually those are "rough" 1x4's lol
Some guy "paid" my grandfather with a truck load of them..... some are nice, like these, and some are poor quality, thin and not uniform. I do like the look of the bark on the sides
That was the problem with the pallets as well. Some boards were nice others broken. The scaffold boards are 1 1/2 thick 9 wide. And 12 feet long which coincidentally is the length and width of the coop. Virtually no waste. I won’t be able to do the sliding barn door in front as the slope of roof gets in way. Instead I’ll use more scaffolding boards and make a double door set up. I have a nice hand made latch to go on for the lock that I’ve been saving for “something”

Lighter for shipping no doubt. Most of mine is overkill on size I’m sure, but it’s free except the roofing, hardware cloth and screws to put it together.
Time to get to work. BBL
My 1st time around with chickens had me building a walk-in "chicken house" approximately 10x10, for a handful of chickens who wouldn't set eggs long enough to hatch chicks...RSL's. Had a roost big enough for 20 lf birds, & a wall-mounted Brower(I think) 6 or 8 compartment nest box. I liked it 'cause the floor of each nest is rubber that can be removed & hosed down. It's still perfectly functional, & I may use it in a hoop coop down the road. The building's still standing, somehow, though there are places at the bottom of the back wall that you could throw a cat through. Tore down the roost & recycled the 2x4's it was made of. Use it for storage these days.
