Ugliness in the eyes of the beholder....No accounting for individual tasteNot the poor rhino's fault he was born ugly.
As s has been noted you will get s "feel" for it and be able to smooth out the rough spots I have not done any leather working since I was a teen..... ok not That long ago but still. Nice paternsShalom to all @kwhites634
This are my first attempts of leather tooling, would appreciate your opinion, remember I don't have the professional tools, all my tools are makeshift one that I have made from bolts. It impossible to find them here, and the one I have ordered have not arrived yet.

It is, & relaxing, soothing, satisfying...however you want to express it. I never tried making my own patterns; don't draw that well. I've combined elements of different patterns to make up my "own" patterns, though. Shortly after I started, I tooled the front panel insert of a briefcase with such a pattern. The finished product showed a bird-hunting scene, with a Ringneck Pheasant flushing in front of a pointing bird dog, & a hunter about to shoot the pheasant. It was rather rough compared to the quality of workmanship I was able obtain later, but I was proud enough of it to carry it for many years before the latches broke. I always wanted to redo the front, but somehow never did.I know nothing about this but it looks pretty cool to me....
So sorry. I have been luckier. So far my two boys are improving.Cyndi died yesterday. Well, overnight. Very annoying considering that I spent over a week getting her better.
