EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I forgot that I posted in another thread about the pasty butt. Of the ten, only two didn’t need their bottoms cleaned at all. One wasn’t too bad, but enough that I had to clean it.

I figured that out.
So how are you doing today? I wish I had had one more semi warm day. I am close to having the basic room done. Later I will actually build interior type walls and a floor for the kid room. for now I just need to put on two doors but have one more section of tin. Just a three-foot section. then fill in around the top where I've got to enclose it between the loafing shed style roof from the wall. The sunroof piece needs to go onto but it's just a matter of screwing it on just needed another 4 hours or so. unfortunately the temperature is dropping today and it's supposed to be cold or a few days. Then kidding starts Friday or Saturday.

I’m alive (I think). The eight remaining chicks are very active, and seem like they will be okay.
It’s cold enough today that I am not getting into too much outside. I had to chop some ice from the coop. It froze open yesterday. I wasn’t expecting four -ish inches of snow! I’ll be working on it more soon. I then have to be sure of a coop re-build.

It needs a roof, and a back. Not a big deal, but I might try something else. It will be in the forties (and raining) for two days next week. I hope to do it then.

Heyyy... Long time no see. :D

I think it's been about a year since I lasted posted and I wanted to update y'all on some stuff. First of all, still no chickens. I put that plan on hold for several reasons and I'm incredibly glad that I did. Cuz let me tell ya, things have not been easy. I already made the incredibly stupid choice to get rabbits and pigs while I was still working, along with a ton of fish. I still have the pigs for now (butchering them in the next few months) and all 3 of my rabbits. Through one problem or another, I lost all of my fish, so no tanks set up.

I quit PetSmart 4 months in. I regret it deeply sometimes, but it was for the best. I wasn't exactly stable. I haven't been for a very long time and my coworkers were so toxic it made things a lot worse. In July I got help. It scared the crap out of me. I've been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety and I was dangerously close to making a very permanent decision that there was no coming back from. I'm in a much, much better place and I'll likely be on meds for the rest of my life. I can deal with that, though. I really enjoy feeling like a person and actually having the will and energy to do the things I love and need to. I'd even go as far as to say I'm doing great and much better than I ever have.

Junebug started school last year. He's stayed on the A/B Honor Roll this whole time. He was diagnosed with a very rare deformity recently called a coloboma. It's the same deformity that causes cat eye and it's basically like a cleft lip, but his is in a non-vital area at the back of his eye. He'll start wearing glasses as soon as we get the call to pick them up. Otherwise, I'm super proud of him. :love

I'll be starting a new job soon and I'm pretty excited to get back to work. The pay is much better and I already know a lot of the people that work there since it's the same Publix my mom works at.

I plan to start posting again. I miss y'all and y'all have never steered me wrong. :wee

Back in for a break. Morning didn’t go quite as planned but there’s still the afternoon. Neighbor is making dump run so in the process of getting junk to his trailer I moved the makings for the door to the coop and broke the chickens water line. That’s fixed, bark is spread, and trailer is loaded. Now if all goes well wire to the coop is next.

Hey Mike delivery guy is here can you hear the dogs. :lau
