EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I’ve been watching that blast coming in. Little lake Phil was at -36 wind chill the other day. Crazy cold.

Yes, I'm not looking forward too it. I'm hoping to run out to the lake this afternoon to check on things and stay the night, not certain I'll make it though. Maybe I'll just go after this cold spell and stay a few days. I'm not certain I want to heat it just for one day.

Good morning. Good luck with the coop today.

We're supposed to get to 40 and rain this afternoon. Then 3 days of single digits and below zero. Wednesday is staying below zero all day. Brrrrrr
You’re warmer than we are, we won’t see forties for another week. It will be raining, but I hope to work on the quail pen.
The dogs would like everyone to know the garbage truck is here.

The suns coming up out to feed and more coop work. This project has been on going since June of last year. Too many distractions.
Not since June of this year?

It’s all fun and games until someone loses their life. :barnie The one looks dead because it is. It’s the one I said was lethargic this morning. I called the store, and they are checking bottoms now. There are a lot of chicks and poults, but it has to be done.

When I bought Duckling’s monitor, I went with video and long range to work in the coop. I figured I may as well be able to watch coop activity when I didn’t need it for her anymore. Unfortunately, I lost power in the coop.
I just got power to that stall high enough that I could get reception. I put a light up there with a plug so I'm excited.

Good morning ya’ll. Supposed to be a beautiful 57 degrees here today and cold front moving in tomorrow. Don’t plan on doing a whole lot today. Have a guy coming later today for 3 weaned feeder pigs and 50 day old chicks. Hatched a bunch yesterday. Quail hatching late today/tomorrow. More hatch cycles starting end of the week again.
Was it a good hatch?
Good morning!

Well, I needed feed, and I am impatient. I now have ten new chicks.
“Ameraucana”, BR, “RIR”, Rainbows, and Welsummer. One BR wasn’t too active, and I took it anyway. They have a replacement policy, but I took it knowing it’s likely to not make it. Anyway, here are the babies. Duckling was happy to pick them out.

The black lump on the bottom left is the weak one. I just got home, and will give it electrolytes in a minute.
How is the weak one?
