My mother's got a cat in much the same state and has to do the same thing with him (feed wet food). Glad to here your kitty is doing ok.I had to take my oldest cat to the vet a few weeks ago because she stopped eating and dropped a bunch of weight. She's pretty much skin and bones. The vet told me that the muscles in her jaw were getting weak and that's why she stopped eating her dry food. She's on wet food now. I just got off the phone with the vet (giving him regular updates on how she's eating and drinking) and this man told me it's great to hear that she's trying to tear up the bathroom counter (she has taken up residence and refuses to leave). It's inconvenient, but at least I know she's gaining strength even if she still looks and feels boney. She just turned 12 and I was afraid I would have to put her down.
She's not done fighting yet. No pics because I can't find any old ones right now and she still looks awful.
