I was skiing at Grindewald. Switzerland and met a friend who was a nuclear physicist and had defected from Czechoslovakia. At the end of the ski day we were sitting at an outdoor café drinking beer with skiers coming and going. Everyone was so happy and friendly. I commented on that and Lubomir said, "you know why everyone feels this camaraderie? Not everyone can do this. Anybody can lay on a beach."
That is so true.
I think I could spend the rest of my life canoeing and fishing in the mountains. I'm not a lake fishing fan. I like small streams. I rarely canoe a big river.

Utah is known for its skiing! Did it when I was..younger. I love our mountains here. I used to live in Florida..loved the beach too..but I love our mountains better. A fall photo just up the canyon from us.

If I ever get to vacation again, I think I’d vacation with you. I miss riding horses. I’d want to go camping in the fall. Cool nights, open air, gorgeous colors of the trees. And a port a potty. I’ll bring an extra horse if I must, I can only take so much squatting. :lol:

I will fish anywhere, but add people in bulk forget it. Beach is fun for swimming as a kid, I never noticed the other people, now if I leave home I feel some sort of "annoyment" with someone lol, old and grumpy me I guess would sooner stay home.

I cant stand the sun and heat any longer either. Its hard for me, I never vacation, I have a nice small home in the mountains with a nice pool, deck and all the animals I love, dont make sense to go somewhere to rent anything and waste money!

I do enjoy relaxing in a boat letting the waves do my jiggin and enjoy the flounders that decide to take a bite. I find that very relaxing with a bimini top over for shade. I used to bass fish with dad many years and cast n retrieve is endless and I think at this point I really do enjoy catfishing at night with bait and just chilling. I think perhaps my life is so chaotic the things I used to do seem to add to chaos.

I would love to canoe or kyak again sometime, but like skiing I cant physically do it anymore. I am due for another neck surgery but I cant take the down time. I will when I cant take it anymore. skiing... my foot surgeries stopped that in my 30s :(

Oh no..neck..spine? Had mine done years ago..now I'm also putting off another. I also used to fish, ski (snow), and loved riding horses. Old..er age has gotten the best of me. Don't vacation like we used to. Hubby having Alzheimer's now has slowed us down with driving. I do the driving around town now. Kids moved in to help us out. DIL is a blessing driving me around when it comes to distance. No more Chickens here. I'm..kind of sad. We have a couple of cute dogs though. :love
