we had a Cooper's Hawk fly into the open door of my chicken pen

We have hawks migrate through this area in the Fall. Just lost a chick to one last week. Now I am keeping the chickens locked in the run & they are mad at me.

I've wanted an earth sheltered home ever since. My nephew built one in southern MO but after living there about 20 years, he sold it and moved to Lake Norfork in Arkansas.
I remember storage rooms and bathrooms were in the back so they could meet code by having all living spaces facing the open side of the house with windows.
