EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

My son's on the way back to WI; pulled out about an hour ago, & I miss him already. Living so far apart, we usually only get to see him once a year, although he & his wife were here in July for our 50th anniversary. We never get to see them @ Christmas; haven't since they've been together for the last 15 years or so...DIL refuses to spend Christmas away from Mommy. Of course that means her husband has to spend Christmas away from his family every year, but I guess that doesn't count. No, she's not selfish. I'm not a little bitter, either...the H--- I ain't!

Sorry for the pity party; I just needed to vent a bit.

At least I got to spend four quality days with my only son, doing what we both love; hunting deer. We saw deer every day, sometimes several, including a couple of really nice bucks. Unfortunately, if they weren't on someone else's property, we couldn't get a clean shot at them. We started calling one of them the "Oh my God buck" That was my son's reaction the first time he got a look at him through the scope. We saw him twice. Rack's not real high, but extends well out past his ears. Never got a count of the number of points; at least 8, we're thinking. Over the 4 days, we passed on so many does we could've stacked them like cord wood; all yearlings but one we saw yesterday @ 20 yards. She was on top of us before we ever saw her, staring straight at the blind; I couldn't open the window or get the rifle in position before she spooked. All part of deer hunting.

:hugs

that my main breeding drake. He's my oldest one I've got still. He is s superb example for the breed.

Oh, and the rain gauge said 5" rain since yesterday (well, 5" is the max, it may be more). I emptied it, we'll see how much we get the rest of the weekend. But the garden looks so happy I'd swear the plants were singing! And the snow peas and sweet peas are up as well...

Flash flood warning are beeping constantly on my phone. Life as usual here...

Nice Images and layout!

Good morning all!

Finally put our Christmas tree up yesterday... it survived the night with the cats! I really wanted to just use my pallet tree I made last year because the cats couldn't destroy it, but my daughter wanted an actual tree... so we have one.

It is raining! We need the rain so much. However, I need to get some serious work done on my chicken run! Not happening in this rain.

Hope you all have a great Sunday
