EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

You didn't happen to get weights on your marans eggs to see % loss, did you? I've had these around 32% and some have already lost lots. Pretty sure my scale is very accurate... Wondering if % weight loss is different for different eggs. (Or, it could be back to my marans girls still getting their laying apparatus in order (they are pullets, though they have been laying a couple months)).

Golly, should I just leave it all alone and just see what happens?

Edit to add: I'm sorry your hand isn't getting better. That sux.

Nope never weighed them. Listen to Sally-she has way more experience than me. i hatch eggs like her- seramas with others. Thats why I had 2 different humidity settings. The marans did better with the lower humidity but the seramas did better higher... Thanks about the hand-I am hoping with more therapy I can avoid the second surgery. I've already accepted that I won't get full strength or mobility back-I just want it to be better than what is is now...

Eggs need to loss approximately 14% of there weight. For a 21 day incubation that roughly .65% per day. By day 7 that should be 4.5% weight loss and by day 14 it should be 9.1%.

Hey I give great advice :rant

oh man Mel, that really sucks I am sorry. are you taking meds? I prol dont need to ask you if meds could cause the swelling. How is it wrapped? I dont need to help with this I know, its the mommy in me I guess. What did you eat that was bad? Yes I have degenerative disc disease from C2 thru C7 and misalinement because the cushions are spent, and I have two that head too far into spinal cord area when I put my head to my chest and I have bone spurs on C3 all the way down to C7. Imma mess Mel, I have endured my share trust me. I dont want the entire thing fused at my age for sure, so we are trying to figure out the best ones to fuse for the most comfort. I refuse to have the entire thing done, I just cant without trying a few at first. I know they have to fix the slipped but still. ugggg
No wrapping-no splint after the soft cast was off 3 days after surgery. Swelling is random and periodic which is scary but always worse by the end of the day and with use-just like before surgery. Only thing different is before ice helped it and now I cant tolerate any cold at all-only heat and elevation help it. swelling is down overall in the hand but still bad. Yeah I would do bare minimum if i were you-back and neck surgery is crazy!!! But its horrible to live in pain too...
