EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I despise weasels, how do you make a pen so tight a weasel cannot sneak inside?  They can get in anywhere, they kill a whole bird and eat two tablespoons worth of food and drink the blood.

I am getting cats (barn cats) to hopefully control them.

Skunks are just as wasteful, not as hard to keep out though. Are you able to trap the weasel or is it too hard to trap.

They're terrible critters. Only way to keep them out is 4x4s and hardware cloth.....

@BantyChooks

This is awesome!!!! how is it holding temps andsuch!!  I love those trays!! how did you make those?

They are the grill panels on the first picture, and to cut to fit...thought I got that idea from the many different builds all linked on the main bator build post...if not a YouTube idea.... they are about 2 bucks each(found them at Home Depot, in the ducting area come in different sizes)...used aluminum foil to cover and protect for the sharp edges made by cutting...

Got the alarm to stop when it would turn on, had to adjust the High and Low Alarm settings (genius right? Lol)... it's held temp great, I need to put those seal strips like something you might use for a door or window around the top though, as it has to turn on often... put a thick throw blanket, folded up, on top of it, and now it holds solid... gotta test humidity next, got another day or so before some expensive eggs show up that spurred this to finally getting done... :)

Notice the bottle opener and cap catcher on the front? Lol... I'm going to add a shut off switch for the controller (for when I'm cleaning it. It still want to use the LED's and not risk popping the bulbs if they get wet while hot) and whenI do, I'll add a USB port on this bad boy...then my phone can sit in the cap catcher while it charged :lau

Did you add on an attached cooler to keep drinks cold?

Sounds like a pretty sweet bator. Hope it works well for you and good luck with your expensive eggs. What kind did you get?

Yes this is very possible. Still raining so fixing will have to wait. Still not feeling well since Thanksgiving bug hit so I'm not to anxious to get onto roof just yet. Good afternoon Benny

Can't fix a leaky roof in the rain; no need when it's not raining

That's not necessarily true depending on the primary roofing material.
There's a great product I use called Quad. It is instantly waterproof, can be applied at any temperature and comes in virtually all colors.
It may harm EPDM but for steel, plastic, asphalt, TPO it works great.
There's an even better product but the name escapes me.
Quad is carried by Lowe's and some other building supply companies. HD may have it too.
