You are about as experienced in chicken shipping as I am then!! These wont be tiny chicks-3-4 month old seramas. I have received 2 shipments and the way they packed them was with the heat pack on the bottom with a layer of newspaper, about 1 1/2 inches of large pine shavings, scratch and a piece of fruit. Both sets of birds were in excellent condition and healthy and vibrant right out of the box. Pecking at the heat pack didn't seem to be an issue and one group was even in the mail for 3 days. My breeder is supposed to come over and help me pack them up and she has shipped birds before so I'm hoping she can help with anything I can do to help them survive the trip.Thanks.
They probably won't buy them because of the fear of disease.
Did you run spell check and a grammar checker on it?
How many chicks are you shipping and are you using one heat pack? Are you putting any barrier between the chicks and heat pack?
I've never used a heat pack so I'm just trying to figure out the packing method.
Hey Mini the boxes and heat packs came in!
waiting on a break in weather-pm me your info and when you want them

I have shipped many adult birds with success. Adult large breed Birds, I put down large pine shavings and throw in pieces of orange or Apple. They have always arrived in great condition. They are of course thirsty on arrival. Smaller Bantam breeds or juveniles that I do not think will do well without heat I will throw a heat pack in underneath some newspapers and then do the same thing with the shavings and the fruit.I hope you keep us informed and take pictures.
I was planning on using excelsior nest pads on the floor. Another piece attached to the wall of the box with the heat pack in a cut out portion.
Shipping larger birds is a completely different story than chicks. 3 days is a long time for grown birds.
When I've had other than day olds shipped, they put pieces of mandarin orange in the box with a little feed.
I have my doubts a chicken could find much feed in the darkness of a shipping box in spite of the air holes.
For as small as they are, they are tough little buggers!! One pair I got from North Carolina and one pair I got from South Carolina. So much farther away than you are from me. Hopefully it will be a successful trip and you'll have beautiful new feather friends to enjoy. They are very sweet birdsI have shipped many adult birds with success. I have to say I was worried sick when they didn't arrive on day 2. I am happy I treat my post office employees well. I give them permission to open all my birds upon arrival and give them water. Its sad that 2 day priority express isn't guaranteed but I guess that's the chance you take with shipping birds. Lucky so far....I hope you keep us informed and take pictures.

I have not a clue what to tell you, How are you? busy busy I see!! you hatching? did you join the groundhog day HAL?Hey y'all!
I'm new a second opinion on this:
I'm wanting to start a Lavender Naked Neck project. And in order to get the Lavender gene into the naked necks, I need a Lavender bird. So my 2 options are Orpington or Ameraucana. Should I go for the bigger sized Orpington or the blue egg laying Ameraucana?
Thanks!
