EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

no I'm asking.
You have to think about why you want certain breeds. Are they a fad, do you want great layers or meat birds, are you raising chickens to sell or for pets or a hobby or to try to turn a profit? Are you choosing chickens that are pratical for the kind of care you are able to provide? (cold vs heat hardy) Do the different breeds you are choosing get along? I see so may cool chickens and when I got started I got a few of each. But even 2 coops, 1 duck pen and my seramas is a ton of work and money. You might not eat your chickens but chances are the people buying them at these swaps might... When I teach critical thinking skills, I go by this method "STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. THINK...... GO. This should take you at least an hour if you are doing it right to start when practicing good decision making skill.

Ah, I see. I'm in a slightly different situation than you, but I also have a dearth of pullets. Here's hoping for a great hatch for you!!!! :fl
(Blue egg layers always make me smile - even when they're mean like the Three Witches - they started laying again, and I am grateful for their eggs, I tell ya'.)

I am hoping the Ameruacana over the leghorns will give me blue for now. Hope to get some from my Blue Ameruacana pair if the pullet ever starts laying.
