You have to think about why you want certain breeds. Are they a fad, do you want great layers or meat birds, are you raising chickens to sell or for pets or a hobby or to try to turn a profit? Are you choosing chickens that are pratical for the kind of care you are able to provide? (cold vs heat hardy) Do the different breeds you are choosing get along? I see so may cool chickens and when I got started I got a few of each. But even 2 coops, 1 duck pen and my seramas is a ton of work and money. You might not eat your chickens but chances are the people buying them at these swaps might... When I teach critical thinking skills, I go by this method "STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. THINK...... GO. This should take you at least an hour if you are doing it right to start when practicing good decision making skill.no I'm asking.
