DYK that a cheese sandwich tastes really bad if the room smells of rotten egg?
I got guinea eggs at our local sale last Saturday.wait whut? guinea? Your a very very hungry Tribesman and in DIRE need of more polypeptides and [SUB]26[/SUB]Fe? I would call that grey blue I had GFF first import lines and Mdmwolfs Reese lines, these are about four years of breeding. I noticed the different types of Legbar had different colored eggs. example a really gold neck always gave me more greenish eggs and the lighter cream the blues...![]()

DYK that the room shouldn't smell like rotten egg?
Not but that is a great movie. I've seen it several times. Not a clue...
Is that from 'Apocalypto'?
Never could stand to watch a subtitled movie but I loved that one.
Then you have to focus. You can't just incubate random eggs. You have to strive to improve each generation. To do so, you'll have to start with the best stock you can find, hatch often and cull hard.I would like to make money.
Those colors are fabulous. Here is one of my roosters last fall before the winter trimming.
Middle is legbar outside are EE, you can tell by shape too.
Below is a carton it looks like 3 or 4 Legbar eggs. The blue is never as bright in real bright light
I took this last summer just to show all the variations in color.
Here is a little White legbar pullet. I think she knows @Fire Ant Farm look at that scowl.
These are three eggs they laid under the nest box in the bedding, but with low lights the blue really pops..

Unless you take the advice that others have given on the medical thermometer or the suggestions I gave you, it doesn't matter which one you get. What thermometer hygrometer do I get I'm going crazy
Grammar Nazis. It's ok, I'm used to it, my mom and one of my sisters are grammer nazis
Good advice. In a pinch my best recommendation would be a simple digital medical grade thermometer. Not ideal for the setting but cheap, more accurate than any indoor/outdoor combo you will find, and readily available. If you can hold off a day or two I would try to order one of the others.
What's wrong with that? The probe goes into the air hole and it can lay on top of the eggs.but that's spot check with a probe not one that sits with the eggs
PayPal?cant order don't have credit card.leaving now to go to TSC
Where did you get the white Legbars? When I first got mine I was not impressed with anything but the cool blue eggs. They seemed flighty and not overly productive. But with each generation I have grown to really like them, they are some of my calmest best birds now. I can walk in the coop and touched almost any of them without too much protesting. They are not the flighty birds I once though they were..
I also have been hatching only the bluest eggs for myself. Because of the demand for legbars I hatch most of their eggs, but sell most the chicks.
At this point I have not sold a white one. I am selfish and building my flock before I sell any. I did happen to look at the availability of whites and the number hatched on Meyers Hatchery web page and I think I have more whites than they do, so I should start selling some thing spring.
I am actually considering selling all the colored legbars and only keeping the whites in the future. If and when the whites are recognized by the APA I will do that for sure.
It looks to me like that bird needs appropriately sized grit. Looks like food isn't getting fully ground in the gizzard. Some probiotics would help too.
Me too.I thought Hiawatha was female?
What kinds of roosters do you have running with your flock?Enya got caught by a hawk![]()
Think she's ok, couldn't find any wounds.... She is walking fine and doesn't seem to be shocky.
Maple's other toe seems to be developing wet gangrene.... Tied a band around it to hopefully keep infection from spreading.
There's a Feb 5-6 setting and another from February 13-15.I am in and out with work. You don't scare us we love it when you get a chance to chat. The eggs were definitely a grey blue.
Are there any hatch alongs for February?
So true.I keep telling myself it could be much worse....

Culling hard means you have to eat extras or pass them off to someone else cheap. At best, you'll break even on those.
If you don't have desirable birds, you'll never make real money.
Having a big mixed flock, you'll never make more than enough to buy feed - no profit.
If you don't eat your birds and/or remove non-productive birds, you'll never make money.

None are guaranteed to be accurate enough for incubating.

As am I.

I don't think cutting off circulation is the answer.

So true.
Blame whoever you want. We all know who the real culprit is.
So I'm not the best speller.![]()
