EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I understand the risks but if your herd is healthy and the containers are clean, as is the milking equipment and you cool it right away, the risks are lower and the milk might be better for you.

I know I grew up on raw milk and only had pasteurized and homogenized milk in school. Which most of us farm kids refused to drink because of the funny taste. ( It was a waste of money for the schools to have milk, as 90% of the kids were farm families. The other kid lived in town but his Grandpa had milk cows.

And look how perfect I turned out!!!!

:highfive:

Hey, knitting complex shapes like that is pretty advanced. I'm impressed!!!!

I sort of live to knit - I used to knit more, but started having trouble with carpal tunnel syndrome and can't do it as much. :(

I love to knit. I taught myself because I was having trouble with carpal tunnel after crocheting since fifth grade :D

The problems with pathogens started when they stated intensive housing and feeding.

Knitters really are the best people! (Wasn't knitting historically a male activity in the past, and women weren't allowed to do it?)

I have a group of students who knit in class - equal numbers men and women. They always sit in the front rows and are inevitably much more attentive to the lecture than most of the others...

I went and gathered eggs. My egg count is as follows:

7 cracked frozen eggs

18 frozen uncracked eggs.

5 almost frozen eggs

0- viable warm eggs (so far)

Oh and one with poop frozen to it so I can't tell if it will be any good or not until the poop melts off.

And I wonder why my hatch rate is so low....

Yeah, uh, you might want to wait a while before trying to hatch again...

I voted - was SOOOOO tempted to say that I would be unable to due to a coma. Or maybe that old standby, "I can't tonight, I have to wash my hair."

Almost all of my eggs were un-frozen today!

Well, not cracked, anyway.

Am I sensing disagreement with something I said?
Yes.

We hand-milk our goats, and besides using a cloth to strain it - we drink and cook with it raw.

I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer and I use it on my hands/teets when I milk - then the steel bucket is cleaned directly afterwards with soap inside the house.
Haven't had any issues.... *knock on wood*
