My dear sweet husband went to our Amish neighbor's house today to pick up dog food and much to my surprise, pleasure and excitement, walked in the back door and handed me an egg carton filled with...HATCHING EGGS!
SQUEEEEEEEELLLLLLLL!!
Totally unexpected. I was jumping up and down. It's a wonder I didn't break them as I was trying to check them over and turn them pointy end down. Poor babies to be were quite chilled. First thing I did was check air cells and the ones I could visualize looked good so I have the dozen sitting on the counter top to bring the temp up. Second thing I did was plug in the Brinsea and start it heating.
Can I put these in the incubator tonight as long as the temp is stable? Should I wait till morning and just leave the eggs sitting till then to bring the temp up to room temperature, tilted as recommended?
These are little mutt bantam eggs like the ones I broody hatched last fall. They are lovely little birds though and I wanted more.
Ok, I know I didn't wait till March so don't hold it against me, LOL!
ughhhh Benny!!!
sweet Justin!! which kind you have several types no? should I be looking for goose egg from my gooserz
I support BANTI!!
lmao she loves you!!!

Banti for Cheiftain! sounds good
The Doctor Donna ummm Banti?
Okay, so I have just candled my first eggs, so exciting. I set 84 eggs, and after tossing 9 for blood rings, I now have 54 developing. The remaining are clear and I've put them in a lower shelf just to be sure until I candle next. I find all of this rather amazing considering what I'm hatching them in. My home made incubator, nicknamed the junkobator was literally pulled from my neighbor's to the trash pile, disinfected thoroughly and I stuck two strands of christmas lights in it. I added a fan, but I'm not too happy with it's placement, and I made the shelfing with left over fencing. The only thing I bought was the thermostat and hygrometer. We'll see where this ends up in 12 days! I am too excited I can barely contain myself.
