EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

@daxigait

seems to be going good. 37 went into lockdown sun night, patiently waiting on them. temp was on the low side for a portion of this batch so it might be stretched out a bit. Candle at lockdown looked very promising though so we will see. :fl

See Proof the room is not as empty as it sounds.....
sorry i was doing read-back

We have wind storms that would rip anything down that wasn't secure - so that's why we chose the metal building we did. Technically, it could be moved, if we really wanted too - but we used gravel/rocks to elevate the ground under it, to provide a dry place for the horses to stand during bad weather.

It's done a pretty good job for them - it works well for giving them a shady spot from the heat, too.

Although, now that my big horse has died, I need to find a buddy for Joe. I'm thinking a mini donkey.
yayy!!! i want a mini donkey!!

Thanks for asking. The one with the worst injuries had to be put down on Saturday. :( It was really, really bad.

so sorry to hear that

Maple has taken to flying out of her pen and laying her egg in the same spot in my sewing room every morning. I am hoping she's not building up a clutch... I can hear the buggar scratching away in the fabric scraps and building a nest when I come down to do the AM chores.

I was really lucky. Three tornadoes touched down in San Antonio last night. Lots of peeled off roofs as well. Here's what it did to a transmission tower:
thats insane,

Hi!!

Indeed!
It always amaze me how vast and profound is the knowledge that have acumelated on the subject! I THINK that I know something and after this kind of lecture I understand how much I have to learn more!

or

. Temps and humidity have held steady the entire timeand more eggs made it to lockdown in this batch then other previously. Maybe the secret is letting them cook a little longer

Patience is definitely a virtue

I am sorry, but I give up on catching up. I fell asleep trying last night
We got 68/77 that went into lockdown.
Here they are well, my share. This is easier than @Akrnaf2 's riddle. Do you see what I saw is wrong with this picture right away? Besides the fact that my mhp won't be ready until tomorrow?

Congrats!! how many are you keeping?

Can someone explain me please what a bunch of dead and buried Jewish have done to some of the residents of Saint Louis??

GOOD MORNING, HATCHERS OF FLUFFY THINGS! I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL DAY, FULL OF PINEAPPLE AND COCONUT CONCOCTIONS...

Hey, even a coffee shop owner has to have some fun!
store cheaper than Amazon? You truly do live in the Vast Wastelands of the North. Amazon is cheapest for me.
cheaper for me in a store

Thank you, maybe next time Binky won't be so willing to chase the groundhog.

still stinks

I pulled the last two eggs, one guinea and one duck, looked like the only thing that went wrong for the guinea was it didn't make an external soon enough, it was lav too
hit.gif

The duckling didn't even make it to internal pip.
sorry Dan

I'm just in a pickle. I set up a pen with my blue-egg layers, EEs and a legbar, but I'm getting g a brown egg in there. It's either the EE or the legbar, and both are troubling. I'm getting a big blue egg from the layer coop, but no idea who is laying it. Lots of EEs over there.

It was just a fun project, but I really hate it when my plans don't work.
food coloring/lipstick in vent ??

ohh boy.. yeah I can see that happening. Especially with a lot of crazy chicks together. Thanks for mentioning it. I actually have to get a brooder together before Easter, have to address how to keep water upright. Never had a permanent brooder before, just big cardboard boxes in the house and 4x8' plywood in the garage. Going to be using one of those plastic 275gal totes on a pallet. Something light that I can store outside when not in use.
I am looking for an old stock tank the big round ones.

One guinea would be terrible. If you cannot have 10 have none. They will torment the other birds in smaller numbers. They are pack animals and not a flock.
I could have 10... I don't want them in a pack . I've heard how mean they can be to other birds, when there's a group of them. That's why I was wondering if 1 would be less nasty if their "herd" was the other birds and not a flock of nasty guinea.
