EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

@Fire Ant Farm I believe in fate - and if you'd have been able to get the original kitty I was looking at, I wouldn't have found this one, OR been able to make my husband show me how much he loved me. :p

Seriously, I didn't *need* another cat. But he said it broke his heart to hear me sobbing hysterically in the bathroom after he died. He wasn't there when I son died, but I told him when our son died, it was probably the only other time in my life, that I've cried quite like that.

I had the cat for 10 years. Short of a horse, it's the longest I've had an animal since I was a kid, if that makes sense? Like, I'd him pretty much my entire adult life.

Wow just turning the fan on raised it from 91 to 99.5. Humidity is a little high at 66, but know it will dry fast when I open it to set, I only put a little water in. I've had a few addictions in life but after 4-5 yrs of having poultry this is one addiction I don't think I can beat, or want to. I can only have 150 birds before I need licensing or testing or certification or something like that I read. This will be an issue for me when I order meaties to fill the freezer. What started with 24 meaties and a 64 square foot coop has turned into me hatching my 8 and 9th breed of chickens, 5 kinds of quail, 2 kinds of turkeys and 7 beef cows. about 300 square foot of coops, with plans for a big chicken tractor on an old hay rake. I didn't even set these eggs yet and I am already shopping for the next.

You're not addicted at all :gig

Just got home with the cats (finally) - it's been quite a day with cat proofing the house and cleaning two of the brooders and tending weak chicks from the latest group. And it's pouring, which I'm thankful for, but sorta sucked when picking up the cats. They actually wanted me to do that photo op today! I was like, "The cats are tired (they are shy and had to be caught), I'm tired and sweaty and rain-soaked, can I please just email you photos when they're calm and adjusted?") Brooke is shy but ok, and is enjoying looking out at the chickens. Opal is hiding. I hate to bother her, but I'll have to eventually, as I need to make sure she knows where the litter box is... (And she hasn't discovered the kitty towers yet.) Best shot I can get of Opal so far... I lost 2 chicks this morning, and one more looks like it won't make it, with another two that are iffy. I keep checking on them about every hour when I can, and making sure they drink, but there's only so much I can do if they are that weak. The rest are running around like champs though. I need to brace myself and head over there and see if there are any more tiny bodies. It's always so sad... (I'll have to read back later - gotta do weights on one group of chicks and make sure the brooders' water is changed. Big chicken chores will have to wait until tomorrow morning, it's pouring out.) - Ant Farm
I'm glad you got the cats settled. I hope chicks stop dying soon! :hugs

Hi im new to using incubators but theres just so much info here and its all confusing to me. I just need a incubator to hatch about 20 eggs at a time, but takes little to no effort, basically set and wait, any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

I was so excited about the larger size, I was willing to downgrade to medium roast.
