I have at least one rat, probably more, coming into my run during daylight only, helping itself to feed, and retreating to its burrow. More than once, it's been caught on my trailcam moving from the burrow, through several hens and a rooster, to the feeder and back. The birds pay no attention to it, nor it to them.
The feeder is capped after dark; nothing can get to the feed. The rats know that, and don't even bother to come out overnight. I've tried pouring poison pellets down the burrow entrance; they're either ineffective or ignored. I can't set poison out during the day with chickens running around.

Any bright ideas? I'm fresh out.

I have one, BUT you need to be very very careful and not tell your insurance company about it.


If you have no source of spark, (turned off all the juice) and no one smokes. A weed burning torch is a handy thing.

Put the torch in a rat hole and turn on the propane. Propane is heavier than air and settles into the runs. It kills them pretty fast. They run out of the holes really fast and drowsy. You can club the survivors. I would suggest not using a shotgun on them, unless you're feeling really lucky...

I made it to my own post! There are 13 pages after that.

I refuse to spend more then 20 dollars on jeans. ^.^

I think less then 20 dollars for a quality item is a pretty good deal.

I'm hard on my clothes, I need them to last more then a few washings.

I paid $10 for an almost new name brand coat last fall.... I can't believe the things I find at thrift stores. Was even my favourite colour, believe it or not!

Found some awesome pants at goodwill for $5. They had a HUGE stain that I worked on for about a week. They're fine now.

You're just a tad off on the name,

No electricity here.
