EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

Hi Mr. B
yes, I think they do. Not a light egg flavor, very pungent like??? not sure what word to use there. say beef vs venison Deer being the duck or goose
you had bald eagle eggs??? and Hello!

Bald eagle eggs? Nah, just popping in 'PWI' , just spur of the moment thinking of something a dude from Alabama would have said

In all comparison though, to me it's what your used to I guess, I'm sure if your used to duck eggs or turkey eggs they're fine, I just thought they were odd. Might have been the texture/flavor but the thought just keeps you dwelling on it while your eating them so I never really ate them only once, twice maybe, dogs loved them.
Never pickled the duck eggs but I did do a gallon of huge turkey eggs once though and everyone loved them.
Pickled eggs changes the texture/flavor anyway, and after a bunch of brews anything edible is yummy

The whole milk vs 2% debate, I don't notice a difference, try to pass a light brew off to me as a real one and I bet $$ I call you out on it though Lol!
What your used to, never had corned beef growing up, ham was always in our boiled dinners. First time I tried corned beef at the time new in-laws, they asked how I liked it... "tastes like what I'd imagine horse meat would taste like"... I almost got beat up Lol!
Now I love the stuff! even make my own corned venison.

Hi All!  You have been busy the last 24 hours!  Runt, I"m sorry about your Grandma.  Benny, great videos.  I love the trap - I"m going to look for it here in the states.

I have a question - my pile of silkies is sitting on a dozen eggs.  When I just checked on them, we are down to 4.  3 decided to leave the pile.  I found 2 eggs visible.  They were partially on the eggs, but they weren't on them fully.  Is that their way of kicking out eggs?   These 2 egg were not as warm as my incubator eggs - it's 86 degrees today - so that might explain whey they weren't cold.  I shoved them under one of the hens - she pecked at me while I did it.

When your broodies kick out eggs, how far do they kick them?

This is one of the reasons that the the percentage of hatching under broody is around 40%-50%

There is peeping coming from the hatcher :) I'm anxious to see what hatches. I'm thinking maybe by morning there should be some fluffy butts in there :)

We're saving our own lives. It's true we make a brighter day, just you and me.

Cranky day today at work, then errands in the rain. Then I needed to clean the brooders - including under the MHP for the new little chicks, because even though I cleaned it a few days ago, it was stinky again. And what did I find? Yup - a smooshed dead chick in the early stages of decomposition buried in the bedding under the MHP.

So now, one week out, there are 16 (two of which I had serious pasty butt treatment to do for this AM).

At that point I decided I had earned an adult beverage or two.

The good news is the cats are getting more and more comfortable. Brooke actually let me pet and scratch her head once today!!!!

(You have no idea what a miracle that is!) No such luck with Opal yet, but she DID get really relaxed about her new catnip toy...

Somebody went #1 outside of the litterbox - fortunately it was on the pee pad I had put at the entrance of the litterbox. Worried about that, hope we don't have a problem...

Oh, how's this for a neat fun fact - I apparently now have the occasional fire ant coming INTO MY BED at night to bite me!!!! (They invade houses sometimes when it rains a lot).

On that note, I think I'll go crawl into my (potentially ant infested) bed and crash. Good night, all!!!

Better than sliding in between the sheets & finding that a snake's already beat you to it. If I lived in S. TX that would ALWAYS be on my mind....that & tarantulas.
