They used to be a lot better; that's for sure.
The old Craftsman tools were The Best, and well worth every penny they cost....
Craftsman quit making their good claw hammers, they were only 22oz but smacked hard cause the head had a lot of weight hit a lot harder than a 28oz Eastwing. And the claws were long and thin, roof truss place I worked at years ago used them exclusively. The claws on the Craftsman you could pry the webs in easy, Eastwings were difficult and would sometimes damage the boards.
Few yrs ago I went to swap a tape measure, warranted for life, they no longer make them, they gave me a Stanley in trade, still warranted but you have to mail it to Stanley....
Every once in awhile I strip a ratchet, Sears has all sizes rebuilt ready to go right under the counter, trade and off you go. Don't know how it'll work once they're gone?
