EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

They used to be a lot better; that's for sure.

The old Craftsman tools were The Best, and well worth every penny they cost....

Craftsman quit making their good claw hammers, they were only 22oz but smacked hard cause the head had a lot of weight hit a lot harder than a 28oz Eastwing. And the claws were long and thin, roof truss place I worked at years ago used them exclusively. The claws on the Craftsman you could pry the webs in easy, Eastwings were difficult and would sometimes damage the boards.
Few yrs ago I went to swap a tape measure, warranted for life, they no longer make them, they gave me a Stanley in trade, still warranted but you have to mail it to Stanley....
Every once in awhile I strip a ratchet, Sears has all sizes rebuilt ready to go right under the counter, trade and off you go. Don't know how it'll work once they're gone?

Neighbors are always looking here. One had the area checked by "experts" they discovered that between me and my neighbor is the richest vein in the valley. If that were so he'd have bought the property back when it was for sale. :lau

There's glacial gold here, not a lot but people have panned for it and found some. Not a lot of info on it cause nobody talks about it. For some silly reason the state owns all gold in NY state, any gold or silver found even on private property is property of the state, so you won't get any info on anyone who has found it or how much they've found.
"very few historic reports of gold discoveries exist within the state. Although there is no doubt that prospectors have explored the creeks and rivers of New York since the early settlers arrived from Europe, there was certainly no reason to announce any rich discoveries publically. Several stories of early settlers paying for supplies with gold dust makes it quite likely that plenty of gold was mined in the early days, but little has been documented."

Minnesota took all the mineral rights years ago also..

I know I go panning for gold and silver all the time, and when I find it I send it to the Governor, because it makes me feel good to know I am doing my part.

Indeed.  Sometimes I see a big splash, which I am told is NOT an alligator, so it's got to be a big fish.  Actually, I can stand along the edge and see fish, good sized ones.  I just don't know what types are out there for sure.

There are a lot of people that tell me it's a lake, not a pond.  LOL!  We have always called it a pond.

Yes :)  However, there is a small section that we do not own.  Just the way the property was laid out when purchased.

I just keep working away at it, little by little.  It is a pain to maintain.  I keep saying I am going to get some goats or mini cows to maintain the edge for me.

So many turtles!  When my daughter was much younger, I could get at least 10 minutes of quiet time by laying on the trampoline with her and telling her if we were very quiet we could watch the turtles come out of the water.  They love sun bathing on the random tree limbs/logs in the pond.

I was buying feeder goldfish for the pond thinking I could get come color in there if they survived. Never seeing them again. One day grandson came to me very excited grandpa do you know there is a turtle in there he jumped off a branch when I went down there. :lau guess I was feeding the turtle.

I find it quite incredible to know, that you find gold, and then send it to other place then your safe.
