EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

This is a first!! A mother actually wanting her daughter close to me!!

I must be improving with age.

WTG Meltel! A light at the end of the tunnel.
Well your bound to be better than the one she's living with. . or the one she took off to go see.
Maybe you could teach her something. She won't listen to me! Lol

Ralph would probably whip her into shape. One stern glare and she'd be clicking her heels and saying yes sir.

....Oh, who am I kidding. Ralphie is just an ol' teddy bear.

PS. *you're

I haven't set eggs in two months. I don't think I'm gonna make the next seven.

Someone smack my patties and tell me it's way too late to set anything unless I want to have birds in the house with frost bite all winter yet again.

I could probably set by mid-March if I run electric outside and keep a heating pad up... They wouldn't have to go outside until mid-April, so it shouldn't be going too far below freezing by then.

I hatched in January last year, but that was a pain in the rear end and there were only two birds that I had to keep indoors. Not doing that again.

I set eggs on August two last year, and that was the batch that got the wicked bad foot frost bite. I don't know if you all remember Maple, but she was part of that batch and she lost some toes. Even today she can't flex the remaining ones.

Just the awkward time of year where heat seems a bit excessive yet cold snaps can near kill them.

Don't look at me. I think it's perfectly logical to set well into Sept and even hatch in early October. November is too late.

:tongue I'm setting a nice batch of eggs as soon as I match up each hen and get the roos breeding. :wee
