Do goats have the vermiform appendage? I've been very successful at cutting that off on the lamb/lambs that have had UC. Haven't had that since. I think I culled the offending stock or changed my ratios in my mineral/salt mix.

I think I'm officially "old"

I was thinking that same thing as I was walking back from the creek with my laundry basket on my head. I was thinking I need a bigger boulder to scrub cloths on or maybe a new brush. They I thought it's just me getting older... and the wicker brush is just fine.. I am blessed to have such a nice boulder. Maybe I drank too much water from the creek today? dunno?

BINGO! Combination of switching over to Lesser expensive Rural King feed (less trace minerals) and neglecting to replace the salt blocks and mineral blocks. It was a calcium stone stuck in the tip of his penis. He was screaming for 3 days.. The buck is having lab work done.

The proper method for calculating hatch rates:

Number of eggs placed in incubator: (X)

Divide the number of eggs that hatch (Y) by (X)

This will give you a basic starting rate (N)

Then you have to make adjustments for information gathering errors.

To use these adjustments you multiply N by the adjustment percentage.


Shipped eggs adjustment................. 1.64
Eggs that have been transported by motor vehicle 1.25
Eggs containing DNA for webbed feet .002
Eggs containing DNA for flat bills .32
Turkey eggs 1.34
Show bird eggs (non-webbed) 1.57
Show bird eggs (webbed) .1
Using a foam incubator 2.3
Incubators in States starting with a M 1.75
VWN wilderness area 0.4
South of the Mason-Dixon line 0.93


After making these adjustments you will get the actual hatch rate....

As a bonus after you announce these rates you will be qualified to be a Global warming proponent.
