EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

I don't have any of the suggested products, and yes infection is possible. I do have tetracycline for fish...? I used raw yolk mixed with water for now, figured if they survive off yolk for three days it's probably got good stuff in it...
I have a lunch meeting today, but will try to swing by the farm store and look for the electrolytes/meds. Thank you for your help again everyone!:highfive: Hopefully this guy has a miraculous turn around, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
The pack I showed you makes 128 gallons.. It will last you a real real long time. Helps prevent Wry neck on new chicks.. good luck

I woke up early expecting this. I was not disappointed.

It seems to be a buff Silkie/New EE rooster cross. At least she's done setting. :yesss:

I took pics of the nest to horrify Ralphie. However, I'm not sure he could take that kind of stress. He would ne'er believe two chicks could hatch from such a horror.
I’ve saved Ralphie several times from such horror. :lau
They simply would not have hatched for him.

What you did is a good idea, I think. I'm not familiar with how you dose with tetracycline. But I bet that could work.

It never fails there's other stuff on at the same time. I hope your feed store has something that'll work. Hopefully your little chick can pull through this. :fl

:gig....:clap

In my case, my fall chicks and the small hens have taken it upon themselves to roost on the nest boxes at night and poop in the nest boxes. I haven't changed the bedding for a month or more. The hen set all this time in the poopy mess. And she still hatched 2 chicks. I kept tossing the rest. I don't want any chicks. Especially NOT a buff Silkie mix chick. I thought they would've quit. Oh well. Whatcha gonna do.

I would definitely trust casportpony's link. She really knows her stuff! We like the Rooster Booster brand of electrolytes & vitamins. It comes in a little jar, so you can mix up small amounts & not waste it. That little jar lasts a long time too. I hope you can pull the little guy through! :fl

Just got a bag of electrolyte & vitamin mix for $2.49 Makes 258 gallons:eek: No antibiotics though...:hmm I'm usually not one to rush into antibiotics, but at this point because of the nature of the beast, it's highly probable that he has an internal infection.

Well well. Never thought this would be coming out off my mouth but here it is.

Why did this have to be an excellent hatch rate????
The brooder is full of happy hungry chicks.. 5 more almost completely unzipped. More with peeps. Almost every egg is going to hatch...
WHY?
WHY ME? :hit:idunno:confused::he:smack:rant

Ralphie, I touched one with my bare hand...
