EDUCATIONAL INCUBATION & HATCHING CHAT THREAD, w/ Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs

That's the nature of Penedesencas. They are fine and even friendly once mature if they are free ranging, but in a pen or coop, they go ballistic. As long as they know they have an escape route, they are calm. Get them between you and a wall or fence and they go nuts.

I never thought I would see the day either. But it is next to impossible to find any of these birds, let alone an unrelated one. That's why I hatch a lot and try to have several roosters of each line. That way, if I lose one it isn't a huge loss.
I do send birds with unexplained deaths to the vet school for necropsies and complete lab work.
I've had 4 chicken related vet visits in my life. One was just to have a fecal read. All were for Penedesencas. I have to weigh the value of the bird to determine if I want to spend any money for a vet.
Come here and I will manage to get for you at least 30 black Pendensenca eggs......

Good morning!

I am trying to decide if I want to mess with a brooder, or wait on a broody. I hate integrating chicks.

@mlm Mike One of the show does I reserved a kid from is due now. The other is due in February. It is an investment, but I am hoping to close my heard except for the occasional buck or semen infusion. I have a chance to get either five straws from a great buck, or one of his kids. The cost is the same. Which would you do?

You would like our 25F., but my truck is a giant tin can that takes forever to generate heat, and then leaks cold by the floor anyway so my toes stay cold. It is a battle since I hate driving in heavy boots.
I definitely would! You are so right!
That's what we're getting for temps right now and we're loving it! :celebrate

Is it a diesel?
