Why? Look how cute it is! Here kitty kitty......

:p I wasn’t laughing as I paced around the kitchen, searching for the tool needed to pour batter into a pan. I can’t even blame it on losing a hand again. I was in trouble! If someone had woken ten minutes sooner, they could have helped with that tricky step. Instead, they walked in in time to eat the topping.

Coop roofing is finished. :wee
Good!
Just discovered yesterday that I need to build another coop, to replace the first one; the one I bought. I didn't figure it to last as long as it has; wouldn't have if I hadn't painted it. Now I can't decide what to make it out of, plywood or pallet wood. I have both, but not enough of either, & I can get pallets free for the taking & hauling. I have the tool to break them down without busting up the planks. I'd really like to use trees that are split vertically, flat sides in, like a log cabin. That would look really neat, but it'd be a lot more work, since I don't have a draw knife or any way to split wood that long, other than by hand. A portable saw mill would be really handy. I'll do the new one like I did the last one, using the one I'm replacing as a pattern. The design doesn't look bad, it's functional, and it'll fit onto the raised platform. Besides, since I've already made one, another should be easier, providing I don't make all the same mistakes.
The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward the plywood. There'd be a lot less framing to accommodate the pallet planks, I think; need to measure it.

Pallets is what I wanted to use for mine. I went with the cracked scaffolding boards as there wasn’t enough pallets to make it out of at the time. The back of coop is plywood at this point.

I have one more coop I want built, But my hubby insists on keeping with the look we started with. Wood frame with metal siding and metal roof.... the roofing is green the siding is silver corrugated, looks nice should last almost forever.

ok so you can't see the roof here but you get the basic idea.
