Never mind. It absorbed all the way after about 10 minutes, and is now looking and behaving normally! I have one more I'm assisting, but I'm waiting for veins to recede further before I pull back more membrane. I'll have gotten 3 chicks if they all stay healthy.
I think I had two problems: low temps, and too low humidity. 3 quit between day 17 and pip, 1 pipped internally and died, and these 3, two of which are assisted hatches. I'll keep this incubator (Janoel 12) for emergencies, but I'm going to go back to using my Brinsea, even though I'll have to turn eggs manually.
