That's what I hate as well. I clearly bought BLUE Araucana eggs from a breeder that shows her birds. What I got was a bird that lays green eggs

I've decided that if I ever try again to get a show Araucana I am buying an actual bird and not hatching eggs because people can and do sale you blue eggs that turn out to hatch out EE chicks

can you post pics? The breeder may very well have true ameraucana, BUT put the different colors in the same pen. So egg color would not be compromised but the color of the birds would be. Just like some people put their silkies all together, they are mixed color silkies. From what I understand they can't be called *pure* ameraucana if they are mixed color. So technically they would be called easter eggers.

Heck, it's impossible to get the whole araucana BREED to breed true 50% of the time -- but it's still APA recognized.

I have "heard" around the net that splash is now recognized in some breeds, but I don't have the SOP to prove it. I hope it is true -- I think it's pretty stilly not to, especially when breeding splash to splash will produce more splashes ONE HUNDRED percent of the time. "Breeding true" shouldn't have to mean "Breeding identical copies every time". Heck, if every BBR (for instance) were identical to every other BBR, there wouldn't be any point in showing them!

I am almost certain that Splash is an accepted color for Silkies by the ABA.

was this person on the ameraucana club breeder list? Many people get their birds from hatcheries and they are sold as ameraucana, only recently have some of them changed their sites.

I have seen that color frequently from the EE's people are getting from the hatcheries. I really like the color, but it is definitely not an ameraucana

so i got ee mutts? i still want to see what the chicks look like in 3 months because ee have green legs not slate like mine. and ameraucanas dont breed true all the time

actually, some EE do have slate legs, it isn't a rule just a general guide. If it is a recognized color ameraucana then they breed true.
