i am not being dishonest. is every hatchery dishonest for selling araucana/ameraucana? they simply say they are not for show. i dont tell anyone i have show quality birds even though i might have some out there that are. i have no interest in shows. my neighbor took one of my oegb to a show and won best of breed and best of show. i bought the oegb from the same breeder that i got my ameraucanas from.

Yes. In a word they are being dishonest and perpetuating mistruth and misinformation. They would do us all a great service if they advertised properly, but they care about money and not the integrity of those breeds.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and course of action but let me make a nonchicken analogy for you for purposes of illustration. I see you have AKC Beagles. Lets just say your neighbors Shih-Tzu comes over for a visit when one of the Beagles is in heat. You dont know about it, breed her to one of your Beagles. For purposes of illustration lets just say all the puppies look purebred, you AKC paper as such. BUT the next year when someone who buys one of those puppies breeds it it throws long haired Beagles. That buyer will be none too pleased and it doesnt do anything for a line of AKC Beagles.
Make whatever choices you will, people are just pointing out what is for the greater good of the Ameraucana Breed.

Cubalaya, I understand that you didn't know the difference between an Ameraucana and an EE at the time you bought them - BUT YOU DO NOW!

Just remember you will reap what you sow. The next time you buy a car or something else that turns out to be a total lemon - don't wonder why the guy or gal who sold it to you didn't bother giving you full disclosure. And you might want to remember that you always reap not only what you sow, but later than you sow and, most importantly, MORE THAN YOU SOW.

I hope you will keep that in mind as you knowingly and intentionally misinform others and sell your eggs as something they are not. It is not only unethical, it is immoral and it only serves to perpetrate the continued deception and lies I see on eBay and Eggbid all the time. Not to mention just creating more misinformation about our breed.

The answer to that question is absolutely "YES!" And furthermore, most if not all of them know it.

The fact is, when one becomes educated on Araucanas and Ameraucanas, one can tell just from the description in the hatchery magazines and websites that they are selling EE's.

The problem is the ads target the uneducated folks - and that is EXACTLY who the hatcheries - and you (if you continue to sell as you say you will) - are targeting with those ads. Innocent, uneducated folks making a simple innocent mistake by someone intentionally taking advantage of them by not being forthright and completely honest upfront.

God Bless,

It is a shame that the major hatcheries even attach the names of araucana, ameraucana to their Easter Egger birds. The biggest problem I have seen has been people who buy these birds and even when shown a real araucana, still insist they have araucanas because the hatchery, feed store, well known breeder said so....
