EE has had liquid poop for over a year????

Interesting

And you asked your vet?
We brought Marge into the vet along with her stool sample. They said she looked completely healthy and are equally perplexed. The vet recommended the probiotics at that time, which didn’t have much affect on her stool, but we still give it to the flock since it can’t hurt to keep their gut flora healthy.

Does anyone know about digestive enzymes, which could be out of balance? I know they sell enzyme powder for animals, but I don’t know if that’s OK for chickens. Maybe enzymes are the same as probiotics, I don’t know. Years ago we had a dog with really bad food allergies and our vet recommended a product called Nzymes. The product label stated you could give it to all animals including birds and chickens, but I have been hesitant to try it for the girls. The vet said she is not fully digesting her food, hence the pieces of grass and occasional grains appearing in her poop. When I fed them cooked white and brown rice she actually pooped out the grains undigested even though they had been cooked.

Hi, sorry to hear about this issue. :(

I recently participated in a thread that was described essentially the same way. And will say I have one pullet that also never has solid stools. The final update is on page 12 and included a necropsy report that showed kidney malfunction. Seems like maybe a possibility to be considered, I don;t know if you can get renal function blood work done on a chicken but maybe...

Hope you get some answers and that she does well. :fl

Very strange, indeed. I hope you find out why Marge is going through this.
Thankfully, she’s no worse the wear, she’s happy and enjoys being a chicken. I was just hoping someone out there might be able to provide some insight as we’ve exhausted every possible solution we can think of and I’d love to get her digestive system back on track.

I hope it’s not that, eeks! She’s very healthy otherwise. Either way she will live out her life here on our happy urban mini farm. :)

Aww, I hope she gets back on track soon :hugs Has it been like this all of her life? Even when she was a chick?

We have no idea how old she is, when we adopted her she was an adult. She does lay pretty consistently, every other day, and she keeps up with our 18-month-old hens just fine. So, if I were to guess, I’d say she is probably about 3 to 4 years old. We have had her for two years and this problem has been consistent the entire time we’ve had her. Given the feedback on the thread I’m starting to think she just has some sort of digestive disorder and doesn’t form her poops normally.

This really is strange, I hope you find out what's going on soon :hugs
