I recently got 6 new chicks after 7 out of 8 were taken by a baby mink. The lone survivor wouldn't relax by herself. Despite being almost a month old I got new babies so she could have flock-mates again. Thankfully she's taken right to them and doing great. 2 buff orpingtons and 4 idk what? TSC bin was labeled ameraucana pullets. Ok...blue-ish tinted eggs would be cool. I noticed that one of the babies has extra fluffy cheeks but the other 3 don't. Is there a breed standard? Are they different breeds? I know only time will tell but I appreciate the guesses from someone who knows far more than I do!!!

Ameraucanas have:
Fluffy cheeks (Muff and beard)
Slate shanks and white skin
named colours (Usually Blue/Black/Splash. People like BBS)
Odd, sort of boat shape (Ameraucanas are like an upside-down semicircle.)
Ameraucanas are a pretty soft-feathered breed. Not a lot of shine to those feathers, unless they're black.
Blue eggs, of course.

EEs:
May or may not have fluffy cheeks
Usually have green legs, which is a result of slate shanks and yellow skin.
Named colour? Hah! You're lucky to get a recogniseable variety.
Longer-backed shape. More like an RIR.
Harder feathers = shinier
green/blue/pink/brown eggs.

You have EEs.

Hahahahaha!!! That’s hilarious!!
I do have to give my local TSC (Honeoye Falls/Geneseo, NY) props for being the most helpful compared to Running’s or Country Max

Got my chicks in steuben county at Corning TSC. Off all the birds I ever got from a pullet bin I've only had 1 roo. So far so good. This time the "ameraucana" bin was the only one with a single label. The rest had 2-3 breeds listed. Either way I was just looking to add breed/color variety to my flock! All I have are brown egg layers - black and amber sex links, and a RIR. And 3 bantams. So anything new and fun is all I wanted! I had a feeling after seeing other people's chicks they were probably essentially a "mutt" chick!
