Are those egg blue on the inside as well? Or white? Just as an observation, not to question your color perception.

My daughter says blue are blue all the way through, as a way to prove to me some of what I'm seeing as blue is maybe more green.

Which is pretty cool that all eggs are white on the inside except the blue ones!

Well I compared her blue to my other girls green and they are def blue, but I haven't cracked one open yet and only have the one. I'll prob have another tomorrow. So I guess we will see, but they certainly look blue to me.

It's probably my monitor but, your girl comes out brown rather than black. As an artist I am sure you know your colors. In the animal world the same color can be called many things.

A dark brown (not buff) Cocker would be called Chocolate. A brown & white Springer Spaniel would be called Liver & white. A brown poodle is Brown.

Folks have a variety of names for a particular color in chickens. Sometimes they create their own. The same color can be lavender or blue depending on what they want their bird to be. Some reds are really more an orange. Some orange are more golden. Partridge in silkies can cover a wide range mostly of birds with more than one color /shading.

The spectrum of the garage light above Rory is of a yellow hue, casting her color to appear as brownish, under natural lighting such as outdoor and/or full sun she is black with green sheen especially on her tail with what seems to be a black/white lacing opposite that of say a Wyandotte with silver lacing.

So what you are seeing is artificial lighting from a light fixture through which is tinted slightly yellow to give the appearance of a brown tint, when in reality it is not so, but that's why I said she was black and white.

Her eggs have all been a shade of blue when compared to my other EE who seems to lay all shades of green with some even crossing slightly to olive, but then mintish green the next day.

I am an artist - for a living - I sure hope I know my colors

Oh ya... I was hoping it didn't come off like I was actually questioning your perception.

What I really meant, was to share that all eggs are white on the inside except the true blue ones... as a little fun fact that many people may not have realized.

I don't think I realized it, until I learned a few years back. For some reason, I still think it's cool to point out the inner white shells... Like I'm still surprised every time!
